FREE READING

Children have a free space to read, express, question and dialogue. They exercise their choice in the selection of books and build confidence and communication skills as they present the book to a facilitator and their peers. Directed conversations around the books promote critical thinking and language development. The conversations around books encourage children to read with intention and to experience the joy of reading.

STORY READ ALOUDS

A story is read aloud to children with a lot of questioning and discussion to provoke thought. A pre story activity helps set the context and tone of the book and prepares children for the story, while a post story activity deepens the understanding of the theme of the story. The activities are designed using the medium of Art, Craft, Drama, Creative Writing and Music to enhance confidence, problem solving skills, decision making skills, build self esteem and  social and self awareness. Conscious curation of books and group processes support the enhancement of life skills and expose the children to the larger world beyond the walls of the institution.
